Air only blows out the main vents.
I have a 2003 Dodge ram 2500....air only blows out the main vents, won`t switch to defrost or floor vents....Well not all the time.. Seems to have a mind of it`s own. I can go a week without being able to switch from main vent to floor and mains to defrost but eventually it gets stuck on the main vents. Hi and low fan and cold to hot works fine.
Thanks

I have had this problem off and on. I usually shut the fan all the way off, turn the selector **** to the selected area, then turn the fan back on low and then increase once the air is coming out where I need/ want it to.
Take care,

pretty common problem in 03's. The little valve that directs airflow to the main vents or the defroster goes bad making it stuck in one position. I forget what its called...someone help me out lol
you have a vacumm leak some where within your HVAC system, could be a very small puncture. I see this problem all the time

I didn't think this system was vaccuum drivin. Not 100% sure.
But after doing a couple hours investigation.
I found a website http://www.heatertreater.net/Ram%2002-08%20Listing.html
They found common issues with the blend doors in these Ram's. Below is from their website.
3. Mode Door 1.
a. This door regulates air flow to either the dash vents or defrost/floor. If you have air flowing only through the vents with no defrost or floor, this door is failing. From our experience, this door is usually the first domino to fail. Not sure why, just is.
Looks like a better solution for the typical garage mechanic who does not want to pull the whole IP out of the truck.
Anyone please respond
Thanks
