Default what do you guys think of these leveling air bags?

Ive been shopping around for awhile now seeing what would be a nice set of bags to install in the rear for when i haul stuff back and forth to the lake.

So far i have seen a few kits but not many.

http://www.jcwhitney.com/air-adjusta.../p2005937.jcwx

They are able to level 5000lbs which is more than ill need.

And for a compressor kit im looking at this.

http://www.jcwhitney.com/on-board-ai...x?skuId=221939

I was looking at the firestone air control but its like 400 dollars because it comes with a 1/2 gallon air tank and a bunch on other stuff that i dont need.

I want the dual gauge for side to side leveling and it comes with a little bit bigger compressor.

Any thoughts?

Firestone has had problems with bags dry rotting in the past, I've not personally known anybody with the issue, but my buddy who owns the tire shop who got me mine said he wouldn't sell the Firestones any more as he was tired of dealing with complaints after only a couple years running them. This is in south Georgia farm country where a lot of guys use bags on their farm trucks.
It's been four years since I got mine, maybe they fix, dunno.

Bag capacity is for weight in the bed or weight on the tongue. So 2000# level capacity is WAY more than you'll ever need.

Where did you find the air lift kit that fits your truck, On jcwhitney it says that your kit will not work on my truck, only for the 2500-3500

Id go with the firestone since they are a more heavy duty bag than the air lift. I've had mine for a couple year and they are perfectly fine. Hell i don't even keep air in them when i'm unloaded. The firestone is a bolt in kit with no drilling and the air lift requires drilling through the frame. But you don't need the onboard system.

Not to sway you one way or the other, but Air Lift also makes a 5000# system and it DOES NOT require you to bolt into the frame.

If a lift, either body or suspension is in your future plans, the Firestone kit will not work.

I've been thinking about some kind of air suspension or SOMEthing to keep from going to the chiropractor so often--Tell me guys : Do the air suspensions help/soften the ride any ? I think i like the idea of the cushion type , maybe not the air pressured up kind-- Thanks for the feedback {'05 2500/cummins}

The helper bags we're talking about here dont help with improved ride quality, just mainly a load helper to keep the bed up off the axles with heavy loads. However, you can buy an air ride system that places bags on all four corners and pretty much takes over your suspension system. If you go on Youtube and can find a few setups.

Also, you need to be careful with the firestone bags like hammer said. A lift or heavy articulation with off roading will cause the firestone bags to fail or burst. Also, if you take your truck to a shop and they don't know you have the firestone bags and put your truck on a lift, the bags will tear and you'll be liable.
