MDS...isnt just for hemis
So this has been on my mind for a while and I wanna talk about it. I have a 2005 dodge ram with a 4.7l. I have also driven new rams with the 5.7 hemi with MDS. I know what MDS does on a hemi and I know what it sounds like, but my issue is that my ram with the 4.7 does the EXACT same thing.....or atleast it seems like it. I can go from a stop and it will shift through the gears as I gain speed. However, around 35-40 my rpms will drop down to as low as 1200 and it will have that dull sound like old beater v8's have. Is this due to the fact that my truck only needs that much rpm to move and its going into O/D? Its been doing this more often since I installed 4.56 gears. Any ideas?
Uh first of all you really can't hear the mds come on/unless you go with a cai and a cat back exhaust even then it is quite a chore too actually listen to. second yes I believe you are right about the rpm lower in od however with the 456's (correct me if i'm wrong) the higher gears will give you a higher rpm. thats all I got.
Yep that sure sounds like it course the dual 44's help. Now thats your truck in the vid?? are you sure about the motor? sorry had too ask. Dunno whats going on there then with the cut back in sound then.

No the video is the Hemi with MDS, but my truck sounds exactly like that. And yeah sometimes I question if i really have a 4.7 (just kidding)

Yeah that. RPM will drop twice, first into overdrive, then a little further when the lockup clutch in the TC locks up.
