Default Differential Fluid Question

So i am getting ready to change out my diff fluid, and i am wondering if anyone is running Lucas Synthetic gear oil?

Lucas doesn't have much online about it (they don't even list the 90-140W), but O'Reilly has both the 75W-90 and 75W-140 full synthetic for $40 a gal, which seems like a good price to me considering it is almost half the price of RP.

It says that it already has the LSD additive in it, and I have had good luck with Lucas products before. Does anyone have any comments and or experience.

here they are listed on amazon:
75W-140

75W-90
http://www.amazon.com/Lucas-10048-Sy...9631000&sr=1-4

thanks,

You'll want the 75w-140 for the rear and HERE are the gear oil poll results.

Again, ANYTHING synthetic will be a good choice. Lucas has a great Reputation and I use their products, just have never used their gear oil out of convenience.

I run Royal Purple in my front diff but Lucas in the rear as my Auburn LSD is VERY specific about NOT using a synthetic with it. I totally trust Lucas products, but I change the rear twice (every 15k miles) to every once (30k) that I change the front...

Thanks for the input guys, I am leaning towards the Lucas, but I have another 2K before I hit the 30K mark, so keep the suggestions coming.

just changed mine and added the Lucas synthetic 75w-140 in the rear as recommended. no noise from the LSD. also added a PML diff cover to make future changes a little easier

I hear ya, I ordered Mag-Hytec covers for tranny and diff should make the future fluid swaps easier, espically with the o-ring seal on the diff cover and no need for a gasket or RTV. The added protection will be a nice bonus too.

I ordered Direct from Mag-Hytec

I checked other places and the are pretty much the same price, Moe's had the Trans pan for $300 and the Diff cover for $250, but Moe's didn't say if the trans pan came with the pick up filter ($35 at auto parts store) and they didn't return my call so I just ordered from Mag-Hytec direct, because they said that the filter was included, and that all 3rd party dealers it was up to their discretion if they included it or not.

They are pretty spendy though. $260 for the Diff cover and $300 for the trans. I figured this would save time the next go around, and provide a little extra protection for the diff and trans too. Hell even with those and all the fluids and plugs for my 30K check up I will be well below the Stealerships price of $1k to do the work.

You know, i looked in my owners manual again and it does not give a change interval on the differential. Just the oil, trans and transfer case if 4x4
