NO BUS/ 3rd gen Guys Read this......
OK... so my brother in law has a 2004 quad cab with a hemi, he was driving and the dash went out and the ( NO BUS ) showed up. I read everything on the Forum. He took it to the STEALER and they said the ABS Computer was bad. They Tested it and that was the problem. I had him Go and Pick up the truck and bring it to my shop. ( THIS IS WHERE YOU GUYS NEED TO READ ) I USED A SMALL FLAT HEAD AND THRU THE HOLE IN THE BLACK PLASTIC TRIM, I LIFTED THE RED LOCKING TAB O THE ABS WIRING PLUG AND DEPRESSED THE ROCKER RETAINER AND REMOVED THE ABS WIRING PLUG FROM THE ABS CONTROLLER. GUESS WHAT I SAW.... WATER POURED OUT OF THE PLUG AND THE PINS WERE CORRODED GREEN INSIDE THE PLUG ! THE DEALER ( STEALER ) REMOVED THE PLUG AND THEN PLUGGED IT BACK IN AND WANTED TO REPLACE THE ABS CONTROLLER WHEN IT WAS ONLY CORRODED.
TO CLEAN....
REMOVE BOTH TERMINALS FROM YOUR BATTERY. CLEAN THEM AS WELL.
USE COMPRESSED AIR ( IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN AIR COMPRESSOR BUY A CAN OF COMP COMPRESSED AIR) USE SAFETY GLASSES AND THEN BLOW OUT ALL THE MOISTURE FROM THE INSIDE PLUG AREA ON THE CONTROLLER IT SELF AND THEN EACH HOLE/ FEMALE PIN LOCATION ON THE WIRING PLUG. ONCE THIS IS CLEAN, USE A SMALL PIECE OF STRIPPED WIRE, I USED SOLID COPPER 18GA. USE IT TO SCRAPE THE CORROSION OFF THE INSIDE FEMALE PINS. ONCE FINISHED, USE DIELECTRIC GREASE ( FIND AT ANY AUTOPARTS STORE ) FILL THE ENTIRE WIRING PLUG FULL OF GREASE, THEN SQUIRT SOME ON EACH MALE PIN INSIDE THE ABS CONTROLLER. PLUG IN THE WIRING TO THE CONTROLLER. IT WILL BE A LITTLE HARD BUT JUST PUSH. PUSH DOWN THE RED CLIP AND DONE....
I did this and reinstalled his terminals on the batt and the dash came back on and every thing was great !! no more NO BUS !
I have a 2002 3rd gen RAM, When i was done I checked my truck, Guess what.. mine was the same way... My Brother in law has never washed under his hood. there is a ton of dirt. but the water was still in the plug.
when it rained Thursday, i poened his hood to find the ABS controller soaking wet.. THANKS DODGE FOR ANOTHER ISSUE FOR US ALL TO DEAL WITH.....
WHEN YOU GET A FREE MIN. CHECK YOUR PLUG... IT COULD SAVE YOU TIME AND $$$ DOWN THE ROAD.....

the abs module on my 03 is by the brake resevior on the drivers side between the battery and the hood latch. it kinda looks like a hard drive and it has brake lines and 2 wire harnesses going to it. my abs has been acting up so tomorrow ill take mine out and check it out.
