Question Newb could use opinions on cooper zeon ltz size

Hey all,

been enjoying these forums and now could use a little help. I have read many great things about these tires here on this forum and will be buying them to replace my aging pirellis 305/50/r20(street type tire). What I want to know is what should I keep in mind when deciding on tire size 275/60/r20 vs 305/55/r20? What are the reasons one would choose one size vs the other (other than just asthetic reasons)? I just changed out to new wheels xd797s 20x8.5 and next week will be leveling out the front with new longer coils. Just curious what you all think about this. thanks

305 is a wider tire and the 275 size would be a little higher(33'') i would go with the 275 size since your raising the front...

Welcome to DF!!

305 55 20, are the biggest, about an inch wider, and almost the same height, its like .2 inches higher, but they are $100 more per tire

Thanks for your input. Just wondering if there is any benefit to having that extra inch as far as performance or handling are concerned. I do like the look of the wider tires...got 305s now but having a hard time thinking that's worth the extra $.

The 305/55's will definately look more aggressive than the 275/60's because they are 1.2" wider. Handling will be minimally different. Looks.....The 305's will walk all over the 275's for looks IMO, but for the extra price of $400 for the set??? I opted for the stock size of 275/60 based on price alone. Also, anythime you go bigger tire, you do put more stress on the front end components, mainly from the added weight. stock sized LTZ's are a crap load heavier than the stock tires to begin with....

I think Silver had the 305/55's confused with the cheaper 305/50 size that are slightly smaller in height than the 275/60's.
305/55/20 = 12" wide x 33.2" tall
275/60/20 = 10.8" wide x 33" tall
305/50/20 = 12" wide x 32" tall

Thx Dirty, looking at the pic you got in your garage showing your ride from the font the tires look fine to me...it seems that they do extend a little outside the fender which is good as I want to set some oem style flares on mine. Yeah $400 would definitely cover my front level no problem so it seems unjustifiable to drop that much xtra for them. However if anyone whose got these tires as 305s can throw up a pic or two from the front I'd like to see. Maybe I could be swayed but at the moment seems a hard sell to me.

$400 for 1 inch in width isnt worth it imo, thats why i went with stock, you wouldnt even notice the difference from a side view

You know what...I've decided I agree with that...$400 is just not worth that xtra inch. I could definitely put that cash to work somewhere else. I do think these tires are "sick" and can't wait to slap them on. Thanks for all your input. Will post pics sometime (been doing a lot of mods lately...new wheels, tail lights, 3rd brake light, head lights, bakflip g2, soon front level and new tires).

I hope you get the longer shocks with that front level man. I think you'll like the cooper's. I've heard from quite a few people they're a good tire. Good luck man.
