Thumbs down plug change

So I decided to change my plugs on my 07 Laramie, yes all 16 of them!

I must say that it actually was not as bad as it looked to be! Just to pop open the hood and look towards the back, you just start thinking to yourself man this is going to take me all day!

The front 2 cylinders went just fine. The 2 on the right hand side in the back were the hardest ones, very little room to work with, i thought that the farthest one i would have to come from underneath, well i just got enough on the top.

The left side went just fine after I pulled the airbox off.

The whole job took me just over 4 hours. Dodge wanted 290 CAD to put them in, that does not even include the 160 dollar spark plugs.

For anyone that considers a plug change around here, its not as bad as it looks providing you have the right tools, and time.

I will see how much of a difference it makes tomorrow.

OH man you don't have to tell me that! I put NKG laser platinums (both tips are platinum) in cause thats what napa auto parts recommended. Turns out they are actually $20 a plug, but they really overstocked so they sold them to me for 50% off even!

It will be interesting to see how a Japanese plug does in a north american truck. I thought to go with a little longer lasting plug cause i thought i am not going to want to do this in a long time! but now i'm actually regretting it a little, that i could have gone with the lowest step. I will let you know of the performance.

I could not find anyone in the city of calgary that had 16 champion spark plugs in stock!

I kind of thought the same thing but when I tore into it, it wasn't that bad.
Standard Champion coppers here, I think all 16 plugs were like $22, Truck ran great before and same after the change.

The NAPA guy must be working on commission. If you are going to change the plugs every 30k miles like you are supposed to, why waste all that money on long-life plugs? Especially when most everyone here is in agreement that the hemi likes the 2 dollar copper core Champs better anyway. My stock champs had 67k on them before I changed them and the truck still ran fine and it still runs like new after replacing them with the same plugs. $20 a plug, they should change themselves and double your mileage. LOL

As far as the job goes, 4 hours is probably about right. That's what it took me. When I do it again, I might be able to shave an hour off of that but not much more.

I think you guys also misunderstand a little that the cheapest plug we can even buy here is like $10. Thats for autolight standards, we are higher priced here. so either way i still spent the same cause he gave them to me for the same price. NOT the $20 a plug like they were supposed to be.

I went the first day with them yesturday, and I actually notice quite a bit of difference, the other plugs were pretty beat up to my surprise. Thats why I changed them, but the japanese plugs seem to work very well. Motor runs much smoother, and I think there is a little more performance. See what happens next time I pull tho.
