Different Muffler Idea (import car muffler)
I thought the DF crew would be a little more open minded than this. LOL. Just cause a muffler is made for one thing doesn't mean it can't be used on another. I have seen some creative "adaption" of parts on this forum in the past. I don't think some guys are thinking about the actual specs that I put up. 2.5" core all the way through, not just inlet size so good flow. Polished stainless steel and I wasn't gonna stick them under the bumper like a Honda I was gonna dump them underneath the truck somwhere so they won't be seen but will last nearly forever.
I'm not sure how cost effective this mod is and of course there is every configuration possible available either in steel or SS from folks like Summit. But it's your vision, go with it. I know I have taken the long way home more than once. Good luck...
well if you think how they sound on a 4cyl, i would imagine that sound would be 10x more rattle can on a v8, but there is a first for everythning, if you do it post up some sound clips...
Welcome to DF
I would just stick with a pair of Magnaflows or SLP bullet style. They are the best flowing compared to perforated insides like Cherrybomb bullet types that actually decrease flow and cheaper muffs break down internally. Packing just don't last.
You can give them a try and prove a few guys here wrong, but if your choosing that type of muffler for a cost effective solution, unless you know of someone who did it and they oworked well, your taking a gamble that could cost you way more in the end. I would stick with paying a little more and just doing it right.
If the stainless is what attracts you to them,.....well is your x-pipe you got stainless?

I think this is just a fools day joke but if not DONT DO IT!!! I herd a full size truck years ago with 2 of them fart cans on there. sounded horrable at idle. Almost sounded as if a ricer was holding his rpms up to 2500 at idle. then when the light went green I just sat there in shock of how bad it sounded and he hadnt ripped the POS off befor crossing the intersection.
Fart mufflers sound like farts because they're open designs on a 4 cylinder, not because of the muffler itself.
Flowmaster on 4 cyl = farts
Glasspack on 4 cyl = farts
Magnaflow on 4 cyl = farts
Conversely, I don't know how you could make an engine sound like anything other than what it is. My Subaru doesn't sound like a v8, and i don't see how my Hemi could sound like a tin can no matter what muffler I ran the exhaust through.

They're cheap mufflers. You can make a four cylinder sound really good, trust me! These types of mufflers are why they always sound so bad. I put a magnaflow on my 2.4L Ecotec and it sounded amazing. If you put a cheap muffler on though, you're going to end up with a cheap sound. Go with a magnaflow!!
