That same thing happened to me. Snap-On makes the smallest diameter 5/8" spark plug socket. It fits with no issues. Also, get the Snap-On LOCKING 5" extension. It takes lots and lots of pressure to get that baby to pop out. The locking extension is like $40, but better than have to tow the truck to a mechanic! LOL

 

I just used a 3in extension and a normal 3/4" ratchet. Loosened it off all the way with the ratchet, then pulled everything out.

I have a trick that you might want to try, is get a piece of tubing that will fit over the end of the plug, its flexable and best of all they are soo easy to get the plug back in. This is because you can put the plug back in WITHOUT messing up the threads, you should be able to spin it enough to grab the threads with the tubing, then once you are in the head a little ways, go back to your ratchet and extension to tighten them up. I used a small torque wrench to put them in tho.

When I get jammed up like that I have used a pair of snap ring pliers. These work in reverse and have small tips that fit into restricted areas. stick them into the hole and pull up.

 

well with about 6 hours worth of work, and only 9 plugs done i feel like and idiot. but i blame not have the right tools. i just couldnt get under the break stuff. im hoping up getting some good tools tomorrow and trying to finishing out the rest with some help this time. if it still doesnt work im taking it to a shop and letting them finish it. i did start it just to see if it actually starts so i can drive it about 7 miles if worse comes to worse. it did start, but i hope this doesnt mess things up. anyways its not a hard job, just annoying.

Yep, a 3 & 6 extension and a swivel......AND a wife willing to get the #7 cyl. plugs behind the brake booster.... (Save the comments boys) Get yourself one of those strong extention magnets also for next time. You think these plug changes are annoying, try it on my 99 LS1...even worse. The engineers of those motors and engine bays purposely placed many sharp things in there. Everytime I do the plugs, my forearms look like I just came home with a rabid kitten. Glad ya got it OP.

 

I had a manza 2+2 V8 with a four speed. That had a broken plug on the right rear cyl. but that didn't matter/ b/c you had too pull the effin motor to get the last two cyl on each side WTF!!! only did that once lol. this was a v8 motor in a car the size of a corolla too give you an idea!

 

I want to know if she new you were taking the pic and has she seen it?
