Default Turn signal mod idea.

I really like the idea of turn signals in the side-view mirrors, but don't want to replace the tow mirrors just to get them. I've thought about modifying the existing mirrors, but after taking apart a different set and looking at what it would take to get wires into the cab.... not such a great idea. I've also thought about mounting something similar to cab clearance lights on front fender panels, but don't think I'll like the look.

I'm now thinking about getting some LED strip lights (think a pencil size/shape flexible set of LEDs) and mounting them inside the flange of the front wheel wells.

Has anybody done something similar? Comments? Other ideas?

your best bet is the side fender regardless of the look there has been a thread or two using the bendable led's on the inside mirror cover , dunno if they were successful /...

I agree with the inside mirror lip!

I thought about inside the wheel well because it's actually closer to eye level for those people that don't have trucks... LEDs are actually pretty bright. As far as keeping them clean, I don't get much dirt there, and normal cleaning would take care of it.

I thought about the mirrors but I couldn't find a good way to get the wiring into the truck.

on 3bay they sell some that go on the actual mirror that are in an aarrow point pattern. I maade a set of leds wired aand hot glued them to the back of some circular blind spot mirrors and wired them to the front blinkers. It glowed all around the circular mirrors. It waas on my explorer but don't have it anymore

I ordered 4ea of the 4.7" orange strips at:
http://www.oznium.com/led-flex-strips

If I like the way the front comes out, I may do the rear as well (or just have extra parts).

Recon also makes the big rig running light which is a strip that runs on the pinch weld under both doors. Works as a running light and turn signal.
