Unhappy Rear end issue

The other night, on my way home from work, I was pulling off from a red light, and the back of my truck made a very loud clanking noise. The entire truck shakes everytime the noise happens. Unfortunately that is all I really know about the problem just wondering if anyone else has had one similar and would have any idea as to what it was. It sounds expensive whatever it is, and I am a little afraid of the truth, but I would rather go ahead and get it fixed so please if you have anything I'll listen.

I don't know what it is man but that sucks! If you have not done a rear end service on it just open it up and check it out asap!

inside the carrier in the differential there are four small little bevel style gears called spyder gears.

Well I would definitely be pulling the rear cover and looking. You may even wanna jack up the rear axle and turn the wheels by hand.

What rear diierential do you have. My guess it is the OEM LSD clip problem. When the clip breaks it is caught in the gears, pretty much destroying the rearend. You may also get a VSS/RWAL codes as the sensor can also be damaged. My mechanic showed me a set of carrier bearing caps that were trashed and said the housing looked the same. I recommend opening it up ASAP to figure out what needs to be done for repair. Good luck....

Well after finally taking off the cover, it revealed that the spyder gears were torn to pieces... great. Thanks for all the help guys.

Do you still have a warranty on it. If so get it back to the dealer asap
