Yeah but with a 392 you would think he is CMR tuned already. If not he should be.

2nd prime can not be computer deleted in these transmissions. That theory has been tested with disastrous results.

Doesn't Hammer have his second prime deleted with his superchips?

To the OP, If you are running a stock trans then its time to upgrade to a sharadon trans, that 392 is more than likely putting out more power than the stock trans can handle.

I did see in the Superchips thread that someone altered the shift points so to eliminate the trans kicking into the 2nd prime geared. he overlapped 2nd and 3rd or something???

But for Diablo, No there is no 2nd prime delete.

Sc proved a while back that it (2nd prime) is used just as another gear. Why would you want to delete it?

The only purpose that 2nd prime serves is for downshifting from 3rd or 4th gear. Instead of dipping into a much lower 2nd gear, Chrysler came up with this moronic idea and stick in another gear for "smoother passing".
2nd prime does not get used on the upshifts, only the downshifting. 2nd gear never gets used in downshifting, only upshifting.

The problem with 2nd prime is that it's not as strong of a gear. It's rather weak and is prone to failure when kick down is intense enough. I sure the hell can feel the lag when my truck is in 2nd prime. There is just no oomph unless I'm already going like 45mph and it touches 2nd prime, but to downshift into 2nd prime all the time even at lower speeeds just sucks IMO because it's too tall of a gear compared to 2nd.

It's one of those things that your caught in the middle of....Gotta floor the gas pedal before the truck even wants to begin to downshift and then since you have to hold it to the floor for like EVER, it will slam into 2nd prime rather than go easy. This transmission is meant for OLD PEOPLE. To shift soft and drive like a caddy. i can't stand it.

As already stated, pick up a Sharadon Trans. Being "built' with a shift kit or whatever is not enough. You need extra clutch packs along with the valvebody stuff AND a higher stahl converter that will pump enough fluid through the tranny with a higher HP 392.

Trans shifts like this 1-2-3-4-OD and OD-4-3-2nd Prime-1

The tuner may show 2nd P and 2 as the same thing????? I dunno...

If you are coasting to a stop, then the 2nd gear will be used, not 2nd prime as the truck slows down, but if you are forcing the truck to speed up when in motion, 2nd prime is what the tranny is programmed to use.

I pulled all of this stuff off the net from well knowledged people including Diablo tuning guys. I may have some things wrong, but from driving my truck long enough...I believe this is right on target.
