Smile JetChips Stage 1

Just installed a Jet Chips Stage 1 in my truck, got it through AutoAnything for $228. I installed a CAI and cat back system wich i want to replace now and do headers and change the factory Y pipe, Maybe go X pipe. I think with just the chip, intake and cat back exaust I am grabbing about 30ish extra horses and at least grabbing the same numbers in torque. Definatly hitting highway speeds alot faster now. Anyone have rough hp and torque gains from their setup. It would be nice to have a better ballpark of what it has. I want to get as close to 300 horse without a turbo so any input would be awsome . I do however want to port and polish the heads as well and I think that would get it around 300 with a new exaust.

300 at the crank or the wheels? Either way I think it would be hard w/ what you mentioned. What tranny does your truck have? I might be getting mine dyno'd, I'm waiting to see if hemifever can tune it then I'll get it dyno'd for the a/f ratios so he can dial it in even better.

I think 300 hp might be hard to reach but not imposable, I think it just depends on how much money you want to spend man.

now that im settled down after having a bit of fun with it i think its more like in the ballpark of 17 hp, but thats not terribly bad. I have the base model ST from 05 with a 3 speed overdrive. I do want to see what I can put to the flywheel but at this point with about 235ish HP I would think that if I were able to up the torque Id be in better shape. I am looking for any company that might have a 4 valve set up head rather than a 2 valve set up, A nice set of Cams, along with bigger intake to make a mini beast. I know about the JBA headers but I just learned the socialist state of massachusetts is trying to ban exaust mods all together so exaust might be a no go with this possibly going back to stock

I had my truck dyno'd. The auto v6 with a filter and intake, but everything else still stock still put out 150+ hp and 175+tq to the wheels. It beat every other v6 in the place tho! It's not a bad motor, it's just put in where a v8 should go.

Question

Something isnt right if your losing 30% from the flywheel to the wheels, I know it's a heavy truck but you should be in the 165 to 170 ball park with the stock 353 gearing, did they have a speed limiter?

These trucks do have a speed limiter, and apparently, mine is nondisengagable. I maxed the speedo in third even with the flashers trick, so I had to do the pull in second. The thing is geared so freaking tall that it still hit 87mph at the top of second! Personally, I blame the trans for the drop in power. This thing SUCKS! The motor is plenty strong, but he trans just cannot translate that to the tires for some reason. I personally want to put a megasquirt on my system to see what it will do. Also, the average power loss through the drivetrain for a standard trans is about 18%, while the average for an auto is 40%. If I didn't do so much towing, I would have gotten the 6 speed....
