Default WTF hemi needs 5w-20!!!!!!!!

well was going to change my oil tonight so i went down to the parts store but seems no one has 5w-20 oil. went to 3 different places but only one of them had 5w-20 but it was sold out.

WTF!!!!!

soooo, is there a question or was it meant to be a rant?


yeah it needs 5w-20 and your mds may not activate properly with anything heavier. If anything i would imagine 5w-30 to be last resort and sufficient enough possibly. I run it but my mds is turned off.

man thats weird, I usually have problems finding 5w-30. 5w-20 is what a lot of the newer engines like. This is even out of your manual for your year and model truck.

sorry. had to vent a little bit. My truck told me to change oil about 300 miles ago. but i just got back into town and i decided to do it tonight but noooooooo of course not.

Guess im gunna have to the dealership and get it done. but i have to make an appointment which makes me mad most places you just drive in and sit in the waiting room and leave.

That's weird you can't get 5w-20 anywhere, around here 5w-20 and 10w-30 are the most prevalent viscosity carried...

Going to the dealer is kind of a drastic step isn't it? I mean, before opening a vein to have them do it, I think I would try 5w30 if 20 is impossible to find,

Im gunna do a little more searching in the morning since i have nothing to do all day.

I also couldnt find 4 stroke oil for my 4 wheeler either which everyone always has. but i only looked for that at 2 places

i have been using mobil 1 5.30 the other day! havent had any problems!

You are supposed to, you have a NON-MDS Hemi engine, it's the MDS equipped ones ('06+ 1500s except Megas) that call for 5w-20...
