Default 5.9 cai?

did some searching and literaly every post was a CAI for either a hemi or a 4.7... none for a 5.9.

Im not in a position to buy one of the 300$ ones, so i was wondering if anyone has made there own or found a cheap one.

You can use this post as a guide. The only difference might be the diameter of your throttle body. Not really sure as I have a 4.7. Somebody will chime in if I'm wrong though.

You could try looking in the 2nd Gen Ram section, since the 5.9 was only in the 3rd Gens for one year...

A round filter is really the only way to go if you do not want to spend $200+ for a K&N or Volant. I tired to use one from a 2001 5.9L off of ebay and it didnt work out. I just put a K&N drop in filter in and it works fine. I know Shiloh has a cone filter on the end of his existing tube where the air box sits now and he said he can feel it suck pretty good.

the only way that I could see would be cutting the throttle body connector off your factory set up then attaching a tube with a filter on it. Or buy a volant!! I have one and love it!!!

there's one company that does make a full cai for the 5.9 but I still feel that any CAI on our 5.9's is useless, we don't have the hemi hat or anything like it. Just place a K&N drop-in in the box.

here is mine when i had the round filter.... youll have to fab up your own bolt though, and youll need a 10" round cleaner for the 3rd gen, i couldnt get a 12" to work dp to the placement of the a/c pump on the 3rd gens
