Question Speaker replacements 2004 ram

Its been a while since I had to mess with my speakers and sound system... again... but I want to overhaul everything I got.The Pioneer head unit I got is a complete turd, apparently the model I got about 5 years ago has a common problem with a capacitor fuse "internally" that is easily fried, It makes the hole system sound like crap and its very annoying.
Only one problem I seem to run into when messing around the sound system is the replacement for the door speakers 6x9's, I know I have to watch for depth. Not sure what is the depth I need to stay with. The ones that irritate me are the "so-called" 5.25's been through like 3 of them and none really seem to fit in the old factory hole correctly...Any one know how to solve this problem.Them side speakers really **** me off!
Any input is greatly appreciated

I put 6.5 shallow mounts throughout the cab and they all fit fine, for the rears I just had to make sure to put them in as centered as possible and hold them in place until all screws had been tightened as to avoid the magnet pulling to any direction.

As far as the depth the issue I had wasn't so much the speaker depth as much as it was the movement of the wires. I just taped up the wires together from the hookup point of the speaker to as far as I could reach and moved them out the way from any of the window cranks in the door.

I've got the JVC HU with the SD card slot and the Thumb drive slot, don't remember the number, but its been great so far. Only complaint I have of it is that it doesn't have a mid setting, only treble and bass.

Might check www.kicker.com/mopar. Not sure if they go back to 04 or not.

I been looking at Infinity Kappa 692.9i for the doors, I am just worried about the depth, I too had this problem with 6x9's on my door, not fitting. I keep seeing in the forums about 6.5's can be used in place of the 5.25's on the side panel speakers? how is this done?

I had Polk DB691's in my front doors. I did have to use the 1/4" spacer because the frame was a super tight fir, but as far as the depth..They were 3.125" deep and they fit fine. For the money, they sounded great as well, but I had 150w powering to them so they certainly bumped. Not sure any speaker would really bump enough just on deck power. They would all sound similar at that point so it wouldn't matter which you chose.
My rear doors(QC) had the same issue you speak of. The factory hole is a tiny bit smaller than the speaks themselves. I just screwed them evenly in place and left them until I upgraded to Focal's for my rear-fill.

And yes, you can use 6.5's to replace the 6x9's althouygh you will get less bass ouput unless you have an amplifier running to them. You can either make a reducer ring out of wood or you can buy them online(plastci) for cheap.
As far as the 6.5's replacing the 5.25's...strictly depends on the brand name. Some manufacturers rate their 6" speakers as 6.5" spealers and their frame is a tiny 5". My Polks were that way. Now, take my Focal 6.5's. Those are a true 6.5" woofer and the underframe(that goes into the door) is 5.5" which will not fit and opening for a 5.25" woofer.
So basically, the only way you can fit a 6.5" in a 5.25" door is if the manufacturer is lying about the speaker size like the Polk 6.5's i had.
HERE's what i had. I have heard the Infinity's and these sound superior by far. Cleaner and less screechy highs and waaay more lows. They are freakin dirt cheap now compared to when i bought them, but for the money...Cannot go wrong. This is coming from a guy that has over $2k in my stereo. i went back and forth between those Polk 6x9's and my Boston Actoustic Pro 6.5" components. They are that good.
I sold my 6x9's to Ice_Forever so you can PM him and ask him how he likes them.
