Default 35w vs 55w hid kit

Hey guys.I have always wondered about this since I had my ram. I have my 35w kit from hid extra and works fine np with the relay harness. I love it. I have seen they came out with 55w hid kits now. I know our stock bulbs are 55w. If I were to upgrade to a 55w hid kit, Would that eliminate the need for the relay kit cause its the same watt bulb as factory or would I still need the relay kit cause it takes little power to start up. Its just that I hate having all of that damn wiring in the engine and I thought being the stock watt bulb as stock I wouldn't need the relay kit. Just thinking about it. Thanks guys.

as far as my reading has gone that is correct. the 55 watters will keep truck happy. plus if I'm not mistaken, the lumens jump up a full 1000 to like 3200 lumens. **** your pants kinda bright. turn night into day :-D

You shouldnt need the relay harness with the 55w kit. And like he said, they are alot brighter (remember you have to buy the whole kit, 35w bulbs will only take 35w)

I wont be changing mine out, but it would be nice to know

Yea you got me curious as well. I just bought a 55w kit that I'll throw in my high beams when they get here and see if they'll work. My projectors take two separate bulbs for highs/lows unlike the stock housings so the outcome may still differ.

That would be good to know. I would rather pay a little more for 55w and just plug that crap in and be done! LOL

Now does the hid plug into the back of the housing like stock bulbs! that would be sweet and easy!
