Default Programming features (door locks, power, etc).

When I got my truck from the dealer, there was a cheat-sheet for how to program some of the electrical features like unlock driver/unlock all, 15mph lock, accessory power always on vs on with ignition, etc.

I've lost that cheat sheet and have spent about 20 minutes searching the owner manual, forum and Google for the programming method (ignition on/off, brake pedal, door lock button, etc).

Anybody have programming information specifically for making the accessory power outlets only live when the ignition is on? A source for all of the programming cheats including oil-change reset, etc?

Maybe a sticky?

Thanks,

Why? I don't have a diesel.

I did post a long time ago in the Cummins board on DF when I was thinking about a 3500.

So you got a 2500 gasser? Ouch. Why not a diesel?

CTD is where I want to go.

The delta in purchase and operating costs were larger than the benefit of periodic/intermittent need for the higher payload on a vehicle that sees about 7,000 miles/year.

I dont get why everyone is soooooo into diesels???
They are a PIA to get worked on as nooooobody wants to touch them. Atleast not around here anyways. Not that i couldn't do anything myself, just most people aren't that knowledgeable. Plus, they are rather pricey for parts as they are considered "commercial vehicles".
They are loud/noisey, they smell, and not every gas station around here even carries diesel, so you need to plan ahead of time for fuel.

The ONLY benefit I see in having a diesel for me is longevity. Plugging in a personal vehicle every night in the winter is not something I would want to do either.

Ohh, then there's the price tag that some can't afford.....ouch!....lol

THREAD JACK

I want one for a few reasons. One, they certainly get better MPG than mine does. Then there are the bio-diesel setups that are available. Chit, us gassers will NEVER EVER see ANYTHING close to that. There is more hidden power and potential than a gasser. Like you, i work on my own rides and ALWAYS have. if I can put my hands on it, I can make it work. I truck now is noisey. I know what you mean but it cant be any more loud than my exhaust I have now. ;-) Smelly is what mine already is with no cats. ;-) Lots of places down here have diesel but I understand what you mean about planned ahead for fuel

That longevity on a diesel is something else I envy. 200K on ours and were are looking for a replacement or rebuild. 200K on a diesel is just getting started.

Our temps here arent like in NY where you need a block heater. Here we just need coolers and good ACs. LOL

for 30 seconds.
The system can be programmed to unlock all the doors or
drivers door only upon the first UNLOCK button press
by using the following procedure:
1. Perform this operation while standing outside the
vehicle.
2. Press and hold the LOCK button on your key fob.

4. Within 15 seconds cycle the key from the LOCK
position to the ON/RUN position a minimum of four
times; ending in the LOCK position (do not start the

Enhanced Seat Belt Reminder System (BeltAlert)
If the driver’s seat belt has not been buckled within 60
seconds of starting the vehicle and if the vehicle speed is
greater than 5 mph (8 km/h), the Enhanced Warning
System (BeltAlert) will alert the driver to buckle their seat
belt. The driver should also instruct all other occupants to
buckle their seat belts. Once the warning is triggered, the
Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) will continue to
chime and flash the Seat Belt Warning Light for 96
seconds or until the driver’s seat belt is buckled. The
Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) will be reactivated
if the ignition is cycled, driver’s seat belt is unbuckled for
more than 10 seconds and the vehicle speed is greater
than 5 mph (8 km/h).
The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be enabled
or disabled by your authorized dealer or by
following these steps:
NOTE: The following steps must occur within the first
60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON
or START position. DaimlerChrysler does not recommend
deactivating the Enhanced Warning System
(BeltAlert).
1. With all doors closed and the ignition switch in any
position except On or Start, buckle the driver’s seat belt.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait
for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn off.
3. Within 60 seconds of turning the ignition switch to the
ON position, unbuckle and then re-buckle the driver’s
seat belt at least three times within 10 seconds, ending
with the seat belt buckled.
NOTE: Watch for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn on
while unbuckling and off while re-buckling the seat belt.
It may be necessary to retract the seat belt.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position. A
single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully
completed the programming.
The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be reactivated
by repeating this procedure.
NOTE: Although the Enhanced Warning System
(BeltAlert) has been deactivated, the Seat Belt Warning
Light will continue to illuminate while the driver’s seat
belt remains unbuckled.
Nothing on the accesory power settings, and I haven't tried it, but here it is.
