Thanks for the good words.

It's mostly a city truck and fits my needs perfectly. I haul a lot of tools and tow a utility trailer often. I do have taller tires than stock and can still park it in the garage at its current hight which is important to me. A lift kit and some huge meats would be sweet, but not happening any time soon for this old dog.

Got the new fog lights wired and working on aiming them. I agree those covers have got to go and ordered the clear ones that can be used without removal. Although I really like the "Black Mopar" Hella 500 Covers sold with Hella lights thru Jeep dealerships. Has anyone ever tried to order those covers only? Would trade a new set of white ones for some black ones...

Be careful driving around with your Hellas uncovered or with the clear covers on them. Pyro was recently pulled over and was given a warning and made to put his covers on them.
For the hell of it, I had a buddy who is a court clerk check on what the law actually is regarding them.

In Georgia, AUXILIARY DRIVING LIGHTS are legal for street use but OFF-ROAD LIGHTS are not and MUST BE COVERED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, even if they are behind the grill!

An auxiliary driving light is defined as secondary lights, limited to a single pair, not to exceed 55 watts and MUST turn off automatically when the high beams are turned on.

You need to check your state and local laws before driving around with your lights. It's very possible you will be ticketed even when they are not on if they are uncovered!

In Pyros' case, I suspect the cop was wrong, unless the laws where he was stopped are different. He is running the stock 55w bulbs and I wired his thru the fog lamp relay, like mine, so they turn off when the high beams are turned on. Had he been ticketed, I think he'd have beaten it.

Where did Pyro get pulled over??? I've been running around here without my covers on in plain sight of course. The cop may have just been a d!ck and been bored. If that's the case, just not to be messed with I may just put my covers on.

I know here in Wisconsin you are allowed to have 4 forward facing lights on at any time, whether it be on high beam or low beam. On my 1st Dakota in high school i had a pair of 55w driving lights bolted on the grill guard and had them wired to a switch in the cab so i could turn them on or off, but they were wired so they were on with both high and low beams. With them on with the high beams, it was like driving in the daytime! It was great for seeing deer, which run rampant up here.

I know all kinds of idiots out here in oregon that have like 8 forward facing lights without having any kind of covers on any of them, and none of them have gotten tickets. And thats 8 extra lights over there headlights.
