Talking Wonder what this vette was thinking?!?

I'm curious ,does anyone have any Idea how fast these trucks are? This happened last night on my way6 too work. We have these wierd hihways in Ct. The Merritt pkwy has stop signs at the end of their on ramps.Makes for interesting merges to say the least. So here I am at the entrance, and I decide wtf. Time for a little wot.I wait for the highway too completely clear. then nail it! I stay on it for a full 8 sec.At this time I check my mirrors wtf headlamps? 95 mph btw and still going,This guy is gaining but very slightly. I stay on it till 110. My limit btw. (I need struts) At this point I cut in front of him, screw him he aint getting by me,I thought. Now we catch up too traffic so I ease it over and down to 75.mph. (speed limit is 55 btw lol)So this guy goes by in a vette!1 My only thought at this point is what was he thinking ? any Ideas? Ha ha ha Probably thinks his car needs work or something lol

This is the "technical related" section, not story time. Whats your question? what was he thinking? probably the same thing you are right now..."what the heck is this guy in a ram trying to prove?"

If you got to 110 you probably wont get it much faster if any (unless you're going downhill with a tailwind).

what year was the vette? There is absolutely no way you ever got in front of a newer one. It would take a TON of money to make a ram smoke a corvette.

I have a corvette (inherited, not bought). 50th anniversary, not the new body style (not as fast as the new ones) but my buddy has a ton of money (like 10k) in his CTD and the vette smokes him with just exhuast, intake, and a programmer.

yeah i dont think there was any question in rockets mind that the vette wouldnt smoke his truck (way more hp to the wheels, and less than half the weight). I think rockets question was more why was he being a douche and "showing off" to a guy in a truck. If someone is merging onto the highway, theres never a reason to speed up and attempt to cut them off or make for a dangerous situation.

I'm sorry but why was the guy in the vette a douche? Rocket was the one driving like an a$$hole.

The guy was probably thinking "I'll push down on 1/4 throttle and let this guy in a dodge ram think he actually beat a vette"

you're tellin me you've never used the excuse of merging onto the highway to go WOT? especially since theres a stop sign there so you can get a nice 0-60+ test. The corvette driver became a douche when he saw rocket take off and decide he wanted to show off to him. Had the vette just kept driving the speed limit, there wouldnt have been an issue. That being said, rocket was also at fault by continuing to accelerate WELL after the speed limit. This is the kind of stuff that will get you killed.

there was no merge AF. Highway was clear! And while I have your attention;Technical only I disagree btw. These threads are for dodge trucks in all there aspects. working on them and driving them! otherwise Why are we fixing or improving them in the first place?!? Too watch them fester in the driveway? C'mon who's being a douche here.Hope we can agree to disagree ,
Sorry but as I read on, I may of been an A$$hole but I was all alone and wasn't takeing any chances 'cept my own! That is my bussiness. Nobody elses' Sorry for the thread seems a struck a sore point with some of you . My apologies too the Forum and guests are in order! Oh and btw Af had it right, this guy followed me on the big road and clearly he was trying too prove something and I he was wot when he blew by me. 1/4 throttle I don't think so. Wish I had a cop cam.

haha. funny story.
a couple weeks ago i was in the Geo and a guy in an older (70's?) vette pulled up alongside me and revved it a little so when the light turned green i stomped on it and so did he (at least i think he did... made a lot of noise) i wasnt impressed at all, obviously he beat me since i was in a 1.3l 4 banger but i think my truck may have ran close with him if not faster... must have been a 350?
oh yeah, it sounded like *** when he took off too... really hollow
