I thought I had a brake problem...
Long time lurker, first time poster. We own two dodge rams. An 02 and an 04, both with the 4.7. My daughter calls me from college and says the brakes are "grabbing". A brake job was done 15K miles ago. I get in and drive it and sure enough it feels like the rotors are warped. Went to get the rotors turned...they were below the limit. Bought two new rotors(only $35 a piece)and ceramic pads. Drove it around a bit, problem solved. So I thought! Problem is still there...no change. I'm stumped. Anyone got any ideas? This is on the 04 truck.

Hey welcome to DF!
Check the caliper? Its possible the slider bolts are acting up or the piston isnt operating right. Brake fluid good? No leaks around any of the brake lines? Did you replace the rotors and pads yourself or have a shop do it?

I'd like to bet it's the caliper slider sleeves.
It was on mine.
A lot of people change out rotors and pads and think that's all there is to a brake job.
Not suggesting you here.
The sliders must be free to move easily, as the caliper isn't "floating" if they dont. This can cause brake binding and premature pad wear, typically on one pad.
Take the caliper off. Check to see if the caliper sliding pins are easy to move by hand in the caliper. If they aren't, check the rubber boots for splits or damage etc. Check to see if there's any white silicone grease still left in the boots. Check caliper bolts and slider sleeves for rust. If any of the above, replace with new.
Check caliper piston operation. Make sure no splits or damage to the piston boots and piston edges, where it seals in the cylinder and that the pistons move freely out of the cylinder. Make sure you don't push them out completely.
Clean off all surfaces with a good application of brake cleaner and a stiff brush.
Reassemble all parts and check to see if everything now moves freely, before you put the wheel back on.
Once done, you have another 3 wheels to go lol.
Hope this helps?
