Default Tire question

Good afternoon, First time poster longtime lurker. I am currently in the process of purchasing the cooper Xeon LTZ tires for my baby.

I found some great information on the forum searching but one nagging question is pestering me today after going threw the tire spec thread in regards to spacers. ( would they be required ? ) I wish to purchase the 305 50 20's.

I noticed a couple people posted they would fit and are currently running them. Another post in regards to some rubbing on turns and lastly that one member who is running them plans on going down a size.

Any input before I pull the trigger would be greatly appreciated

305 50 20's

Don't those only come out to 32 inch diameter tires?

I'm not a vastly knowledgeable tire guy like hammer, but 32s should fit no problem?

I thought the trucks came with 33s on?

oh ur worried about the width huh?

On my level these tires are 13.5 wide and they clear unless I'm on a steep incline and full lock. I would think that 12 inches would clear stock but I'm not %100 sure. I DO kno, however, that the tires that were on my truck before this, when it was at stock height were 305/55/20

So again, I'm pretty sure you are fine.

my tires are 12.2 inches wide, had to get spacers because they would rub on the UCA (upper control arm) but i have stock 17's i dont know much about the 20's, but the hight will be fine

Like Hoss said, I would worry about the tire being so wide it would hit the upper control arm. The reason some people can run them is they have aftermarket rims with negative backspacing. That helps to put the tire further out from the truck. You won't have any problem running them height wise but the width is iffy. I've got a tire that's around 11.5 inches wide and I can tell you with the factory rim I have I wouldn't be able to run that extra 1/2 and feel safe about it.

I think you mean NEGATIVE OFFSET... LMAO!!!

Although I get what you mean.

To the OP: 12" is gonna be about the widest you can go with full lock on the stock wheels. You wanna run a tire with much more width than that and it's gonna be spacers or a wheel with about 4.25 - 4.5" of backspacing and a 0 to negative offset...

Thanks for the responses, I went with the 285 50 20s. For peace of mind.

305s will fit a stock 4x4, if you're a 2wd you may have rubbing issues.
