Cool Weekend mods and maintenance (pics)

Ok guys so over Friday and Saturday had a pretty good time and did some learnin'. As far as maintenance goes Friday at work I seafoamed the truck. Needless to say the people in the other warehouses were confused and couldn't figure out where all the smoke was coming from.

Then Saturday morning changed the oil out for Mobil 1 synthetic. BTW if you have a Pep Boys near you (not sure if other places have the same deal) they are selling 5 quarts of the Mobil 1 full synthetic and Mobil 1 premium oil filter for 29.99. So in my case I only had to buy and extra quart. After that, hella traffic and Sunday drivers I finally made it out to Hammer's 2.5 hours late. (figured I would say something before one of them did) First stop was Lowe's for some 3" pvc elbows and a rubber boot. Then off to Advance Auto to pick up a K&N and a "baby" filter. You know what's coming next.

I didn't need to buy the pipe since Pyro had already bought that when he made his CAI. So Hammer, Pyro and myself went to work. We ripped off the hat and the top of the air cleaner box. Test fit everything, glued it and painted it with the highly talked about plasti-dip. The plasti-dip did work well I must say. Had to put the air sensor back in as well, the only problem not noticed by myself was where the new CAI is, the wires weren't long enough to hook back up to the sensor. A few spliced wires and we're back in business. We angled the filter into the stock bottom part of the air cleaner box. It gets great incoming air from the top and from the front where the scoop is on the box. Leaving the box will also help to keep water, etc. from getting to the filter. Hammer had a great idea about the oil vent tube and we mounted it inside the box as well. You'll see the pics it looks bad @ss. The CAI intake is great and sounds awesome. Total parts cost around I believe $70 taking into consideration again that Pyro had already bought the pipe. I really wanted to get the CAI on since I will have a Cherry Bomb Extreme to me hopefully this week. Already on order just waiting for it to show up. So I could get air into the motor and out with a hella rumble!!!!!!!

Then went to debadging. Pyro helped me out by using some fishing line and took off all the emblems. Next came the eraser wheel. With a little work again from Pyro and Hammer voila no more emblems. Anyways, here's the pics.

Here's the ending location for both filters. Again, great idea by Hammer for the "mini" filter.

That's for the oil ventilation tube. Yeah, it was a good weekend and learned an awful lot on Saturday. I also learned that Yuengling beer is actually pretty good. I love the sound too. It's almost like having a performance muffler under the hood. lol

From what I took it as it was a ventilation hose that allowed moisture to vent from the crankcase.
