Joe got quoted at 300 I think, and btw joe, the quote I got was right around the same, 300 was the estimate the guy gave me... And that was my hood since he wanted kind of an idea of what to go with, and I told him in black.
Looks like it could be pretty cool. Have you ever made a hood scoop before bc that is a pretty adventurous design. Can't wait to see how it comes out.

That's cheap! On hoods, unless it's in perfect shape and doesn't ned any alterations, $300 is CHEAP and i would NOT plan on getting that price.
I know autobody pricing very well and when my cowl hood for my mustang was needing paint, I brought it by 3 shops for estimates. They were all within $200 of each other and the lowest price I was quoted...$960
Reason being...It needed a ton of body work/filler to aid in all the imperfections of fiberglass.
As far as the hood scoop up top. I'd reccomend against it because there is no way to keep the rain water off the top of your engine. Most centered scoops are designed to do that and as far as the side vents, yes water can get in, but that is on the sides of the engine rather than the center dropping on the alt, pooling in the intake..etc
If your doing a custom fab job, I'd say try and make a functional ramair style. I'd actually go for functionality over looks without compromising looks too much. Everyone loves realistic useable hoods over wild useless hoods granted the useable hoods aren't too gaudy.
Good luck with the build though and if you need help in the making, you know where we be!
