it was pretty weird, went to a muffler shop, some guy had my same truck but a 4.7 l, 2wd, same year, color when i got there, and he got a flowmaster 40 cat back put on, it sounded loud, but then decided now that im going with a magnaflow, either 18" or 14", he said if i paid cash i could get a catback magnaflow with a tip of my choice for $300. what do you guys think?

 

Good price IMO. I just got the CB extreme and OMFG!!!!! I'm in love.

thats a really good price i have a 18" its a bit quieter than the flowmaster so if your looking for loud get the 14" but the cab noise is much more tolerable that the flowmaster but you have the 5.9 so you don't have to worry about the mds drone

 

are you happy with the 18 or would you want the 14 if you did it all over again?

 

It's not that bad. At idle you have your rumble but after that you do have a little louder than normal sounds. But to each their own, I enjoy the sound of a V-8. Even if it is only the 4.7. I would just stay away from Flowmaster only because they're prone to rust easily and don't really have a good flow rating as compared to Magnaflow or Cherry Bomb.

 

other than sound what would the difference be between the 18" and 14"? also, any opinions on the tip?

 

I am happy with the 18" i like loud but have a wife and 2 kids, there is no difference in performance between the 18" and 14" they are both very wide open on flow just the 14" will be a little louder so it's all about what your looking for. I didn't see a difference in milage or anything that I could tell from flowmaster to magnaflow but I don't have any other mods besides a cai
