Tips do change the sound a little, more at idle than anything. I've learned exhaust sounds changes tones at different lengths and diameters. I did have turn downs(dumped) right out of a SI DO 40series flowmaster. It was loud and quickly got obnoxious at cruising speeds because of the constant rumble inside the cab. You couldnt hear yourself think. so i moved the muffler towards the front a little and ran some pipes out the side in front of the rear tire with some camaro tips to make it look pretty. It canceled out most of the rumble and made it sound way louder. I do exhaust for a living and i can pretty much tell you what and how you need it if you tell me how you want it to sound.

i have 18''x 3.5'' rolled stainless magnaflow tips... they get pretty dirty but always clean up nicely

i like being able to see the tips (if theyre done right)

hammer has a good idea. buy some pipe and cut it- tips arent cheap!

DUMP IMO. Cleanest/best look I have seen and if you dump over the axle under the bed it will not be excessively drony or obnoxious.
