Do's and Don'ts - The harsh lessons we face
I am a mechanic at a bus company and I have seen some screwed up things. The most dumb thing I ever saw was my boss had an old GMC Safari van (Don't get me wrong I know it is a Dodge Forum on Rams, but this is like a "in general post") I just went to YouTube checking out mods and tricks people have done with there trucks and I saw something that I want to reiterate as a DON'T. First off if you ever have to add an additive into your oil, It's not a good thing. You either need a new vehicle or you need to fix your driving habbits. This guy put SeaFoam in the oil, in the vacum lines and in the gas tank. He is lucky the engine was new enough it did't seem to do any damage, but as someone who has torn engines down when SeaFoam was used I can tell you the whole rolling assembly and pistons, wrist pins, seals, they all where prematurely. The SeaFoam actually reduces lubricating properties of oil, It can cause your fuel pump to over heat and on fuel infected vehicles it eats the O-Rings that seal the injector. On high mileage vehicles it also blows the carbon that seals the valve seats and top piston ring causing Blowby or wetstacking in deisal vehicles. The perfect example is what I mentioned with my boss. He tried it after a marine mechanic suggested it, he blew heavy white smoke that choked the air off in my garage and when it cleared raw fuel started dumping from the exuast. The lesson is Don't use seafoam ever or any other cleaning agent in your engine!

I dont use it but I have a hard time believing that it's as harmful as you state.
This is the first time ive ever heard someone say to NOT use seafoam..
