That's exactly what powers my GPS. Also the driving light relay, and the radar detector. All use the switched outlet I referred to. My e-fan relay is driven off a different switched power source.

VSS is needed to tap for Vehicle Speed for GPS. Thats a standard wire to tap for GPS accuracy actually. Most GPS units need that wire.

Hmmm. My Garmin checks in with the satellites every six seconds (or six times a minute, I forget which). That's how it determines vehicle speed (and updates the location).

not to hijack, but i've been trying to figure out for the past few days what factory switch would go where that dash plug/cover is... and if i can use it for a more stock look for fogs & hellas i'm adding...

definitely will use the switch for ign.power when i wire up some hellas & fogs to their relays & switches...

as a matter of fact i did... they explain what the electrical (light blue) plug is for...

i however am curious as to what switch, toggle, dial or button would be there in place of the cover that's in the hole. i can't imagine there being a "power pedal" sticking out of that area.

if there is a stock switch, toggle, dial or button that fits that hole, i wonder if i could use it for the auxiliary lights i'm adding.

thanks for letting me clear that up...

It's the switch for the power pedals, as mentioned earlier. It's a momentary switch just like what is used for your power windows. You push the switch and your pedals move forward or back. I will try to get a pic a little later.

i see... now it's making more sense... doesn't sound like a good switch for aux. lights if it's similar to the power window switch...

thanks!!
