Question Air filter maintenance?

Has any one maintained their air filters with oil yet? Aren't you supposed too clean the filter with a special product from k&n or spectre. then re oil the filter? I heard some where at least once a year. This should be done.
Also application om the filtr is only on the ridges not the valleys, any thoughts on this. thanks guys in advance.

Yeah, get a K&N filter recharge kit.
All the instructions are inside, but you've got most of it.

Hopefully you are speaking of an aftermarket filter. The factory filters are paper n just need to b replaced by a new one. They are disposable.
If its aftermarket, just follow the directions on how to service ur aftermarket filter.

I bought the K&N drop in. I thought instructions said to clean/oil every 100K?

I have a drop-in filter in the Jeep and a cone with the CAI in the truck. I clean and re-oil them at about 25k intervals which is about every two years in the Jeep and every 3 years in the truck...

And, you are correct in that you oil the peaks and not the valleys....the idea being that the filter 'wicks' the oil down into the valleys. You oil the filter, then wait a period of time (it says how long in the instructions), then re-check to see that the valleys have turned dark pink, as well. If not, you reapply a bit more oil. But don't overdo it!
