New to the board, need some help 2008 1500 Ram
I have a 2008 quad cab Ram 2wd with the 4.7 in it.
It now has about 35,000 miles on it, I have put 30,000 on it running my rural mail route. My roads are pretty rough on a truck.
This truck is a salvage title truck and has been a good truck so far.
Well Friday it died on me a couple times and then got hard to start, you would have to crank and crank to get it running.
I checked the codes and come up with 300, 335, and 339.
I was told the 335 was the crank trigger sensor, so I found one today at a dealership and bought it brought it home and installed it and, you guessed it, the new sensor didn't fix a thing.
So we wanted to know if it was a fuel issue or a firing issue so we sprayed carb cleaner directly down the throttle body and it wouldn't run on that so we think it's an ignition issue.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

Battery turns engine over really well, but I did clean the terminals, but no help.
I also checked a couple plug ends and wires with no luck.
Checked the exhaust, thinking the cats may have been stopped up, but they weren't the best I could tell.
Anyone have any other ideas.

ramhunter, it will run but it's hard to start, and it doesn't have any power.
BTW cool truck you have.
And a big thumbs up on Illinois for the deer hunting. We have been to Pike county and hunted some.

Your crack position sensor is root of the problem, if you replaced the sensor and it's still doing it, check that you installed it correctly, check the wires and lines for corrosion, and reset the PCM.

I will have to run down the wires to the crank sensor. I replaced the sensor and it didn't help.
I called the dealership today and it will be the first of next week before they can get it in.
I just wish it would go into overdrive.
Got to work, so the truck must go regardless.
