I have an 04 ram 1500 4.7 single cab. I purchased it used and it has an extremely loud no name exhaust on it. It is extremely loud, and drones like no other, I am tired of it. I was just going to replace it with the stock exhaust, but after looking online that seems really expensive. Does anybody have any suggestions? I am looking for a cheep quiet exhaust, stock or after market. I dont care about performance, I just want something quiet, this is not a fast truck.

The flowmaster 40 series isn't too loud

 

whatever muffler you end up with, just keep in mind... the longer the muffler, the quieter it will be. also, you can always add a resonator as well, that will help quiet it down. personally, id look at one of the longer (24"+) magnaflows. wont be too loud, but will still flow very nicely. also wont break the bank! a flowmaster is going to drone no matter what size it is.

the annoying drone sound that drives you crazy in the cab at certain MPHs.

 

Humm, I don't have that, I've got a gen 3 4.7 with the fm 44 dumped, sounds clean

 

any other ideas? Would i have to replace the whole exhaust or just start at the muffler?

 

i would start with just replacing the muffler,like john said Magnaflow is a good choice its quieter than flow master and if that is still too loud get a resonator put on
