is this right? need some input
2002 1500 4.7 4x4, I've had the truck for two years and the gas mileage hasn't changed, but I get about 200 miles a tank, is that normal? With a roughly 20 gal tank getting 200 miles that's an average of 10 mpg, that just seems a bit low.... all the mods I have are flowmaster 40 series dropped off at muffler a K&N filter and 33 m/t tires... regular oil changes and maintanance <can't spell sorry..... any one have any input ?
i fill my tank up and everytime its 22 gallons even though it says i have a 26 gallon tank...... and i get 280 miles around town and 330 on the highway, i have 305/70/17 which are 34x12.1 tires.... homebrew CAI, CB ex exhaust, and done regualr maintenance.. i get around 12.7 MPG city, and 15 highway... but also with larger tires it will throw off ur odometer a little bit so its a few miles give or take per tank without a chip...
well IMO (which i could be very wrong) babyin it can waste gas, jus drive it normal, dont hammer on it, but dont barely hit the gas pedal, just drive normal and see if that does anything, i would think babyin it would make the engine work harder to get u where u want to go, but again this is my opinion and i could be very wrong, maybe someone else will chime in on this is give better advice

NO that is not normal. I have a Hemi, a QC 4x4 and weigh in at almost 7000 lbs and when I travel from Florida to the farm in Georgia it's exactly 360 miles. If I fill up when I leave, I get gas in Waycross, which is 38 miles from the farm. Gauge is usually sitting about half way between a quarter and empty and I usually average about 16 mpg on a trip that is mostly highway driving, so that's about right.
Traditionally, if the engine is sound, after the normal tune up things, the biggest MPG robbers are dirty EGR and Throttle Body, so I guess if it were me, I'd start there...
