just cut yours down, and then angle the top a little bit and you can wedge the ball back on

I seriously doesn't affect the reception at all? I find that hard to believe... , may have to make a visit to the junk yard today and pull on to give it a try.

I bought a billet one from StylinTrucks.com probably a good four years ago or so, was around $20 shipped I think. I just rub it with a dab of Flitz about once a year and it still looks like new... I think they had them in 3" increments from 6" up to about 18" or so. I opted for a 12" one so I wouldn't lose all my radio reception, dunno why though, I don't think I've listened to anything but MP3 CD's or my Ipod since the day I bought it, LOL...

I am an amateur radio operator, and have built many antennas over the years, and I can assure you, simply cutting it down, WILL effect reception, and cut down range.

You can get short antennas at auto parts stores, that are wound inside to stay on wave match.

Shaved mine, mounted a amplified antenna behind the radio. It works almost as good as the original.
