u probly already have but did u check the universal joints in the drive shaft/shafts

It must be the 6 speed in mine. I have the 3.92, 17in wheels, and I run about 2400 rpm at 65. I hate takin my truck onto the turnpike, running 75-80 pushes me up to 2800-2900 respectively.

I was also gonna say that my truck has 22k on it and the lsd acts about like the one in my moms 96 ram with 170K.

^^ not all the time. They can have a vibrational effect that is rotational sounding. Sounding sorta far then close and increases with speed due to faster driveshaft rotational speed.
I would rule out gear noise unless it only happens in certain situations such as letting off the gas and coasting or when you are slightly on the gas.
If it's a consistent noise, then I would begin to think of the pinion bearing. Unfortunately the only way to check the pinion bearings is to take apart the entire rear end and do a visual inspection of the bearing races.
Pinion bearings are the first proces in a build so they are last to be removed....

I'd try and rule out a wheel bearing as well.

how do i check the wheels bearings, jack it up and tug the wheel side to side right?...and i know how to check the u-joints, but if its a pinion bearing i need the whole rear end rebuilt right?....it does make the whirring as im slowing down, its as if i have mild aggressive wheels on the rear of my truck while driving mostly prominent when slowing cause the exhaust quiets down, and if i throw it in n while driving it does the same thing....

okay i got a quote to fix my problems and its 250 bucks and i will be replacing the gears and all the bearings unfortunately i hate to shell this kinda money out on a repair but the upgrade to a better gear will be nice, it just throws me under right now....gotta pay to play or well pay to drive.....

many times in the 9.25 the retaining clips from the clutch pack will fall out and chew up on of your carrier bearings causing a whining noise. and if you have 3.92 gears you wont even feel a difference to a 4.10
