Default Please help with stalling during warm up

Hey people,

Im new here and this forum looks awesome!

I do have a question though,

2002
ram 1500
5.9 l
auto
slt

Just recently I noticed that my truck would act funny during warm up. It starts great. But about 1-3 minutes later it starts idleing rough. I have a cool air intake so I can also hear that is sounds like it is sucking ALOT of air while it is hesitating. I also noticed that if i drive it after starting it the truck will drive for a minute then hesitate. I can turn the key off then on while coasting and then it runs fine for a bit. It may happen 2-3 times in the first 5 minutes of driving. After it is warmed up it'll run great for hours with no problem.

I thought a tune up might help so I replaced the plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor, oil. No change. I cleaned the intake inside and out. NO Change. I put in injector cleaner...no change.

Please help me....... Someone must know what causes this for sure.

Sounds to me like you are running a bit lean. The engine should be running a bit extra rich until it comes up to temp when it reaches open loop and uses information gathered by various sensors to adjust the A/F ratio.

Could be a number of things including a dirty throttle body, but I'd start by checking your mixture when the engine is cold since this seems to be when your issue takes place...

thank you for your help!!!!

I did pull off the throttle body and cleaned it. Looked inside the man with a scope and It all looked good.
I am wondering what part (sensor) on the truck would cause the confusion in the mixture while it is warming up.... O2??? Mass airflow....

Sorry .....kind of a dummy

Do you have any trouble codes?

Check the fuel rail pressure, and confirm the IAC motor is working.

Sensors rarely go out of spec...they usually break, and set a code.

Nope no trouble codes. No check engine light.

Ok well I pulled my IAV motor out and cleaned it. I replaced the battery. no change this morning. It still wanted to stall out within 5 minutes of starting and smooths out after a couple resets.

ANYONE >?????
