Dual exhaust pricing???
Hey guys
My first post (of many I'm sure) besides my introduction.
I'm curious what others have paid for getting their dual exhaust done. I'm just speaking of a one in double out setup. I know that theres a lot to factor in like what region your in, what muffler and etc. I'm just wanting to get a general idea what everyone else has paid.
I have received two quotes so far and both were way off from one another.
1. $290 for a Flowmaster with stainless tips straight out the back.
2. $490 for a MagnaFlow with double wall stainless tips out the back.
The $490 guy suggested MagnaFlow since it was a good flow through muffler, said the Flowmasters built for the 5.7 created back pressure and was not as good a choice. Anyone else heard this?
Feedback appreciated

I guess it depends becuase i was thinking about doing this and the muffler shop i went to said that they can custom make a y-pipe but it cost 130 bucks or so depending. Also i've heard people get true duals as cheap as 200 bucks so i guess it all depends where you get it done.
I'm not a big fan of Flowmasters and I've had one. Your exhaust guy is actually right on (a rarity) in saying that it does cause a lot of back pressure. Some guys like it because it does move the torque curve down in the rpm range a bit, but make no mistake about it, BACK PRESSURE = INEFFICIENCY...
The quotes are about spot on average, no great deals, but not gouging you either. A typical cat-back dual should run you about $300 with aluminized plus nice tips and about $500 with all stainless...

got my cherrybomb extreme SI/DO installed a few weeks ago, just placed it where the stock muffler was and put duals out the back. Muffler was $55 from the internet, and install was $235 (aluminized w/ stainless 3" pipes) and i love it. so yah about $300 for me
Yeah I seen your post about the Cherry Bombs (nice setup). My concern with going that rout was passing inspection. Any issues with that?
as far as i know everything should be perfectly fine for inspection. left the cats and everything, only difference is noise and the flow, but emissions shouldnt have changed a bit. im not 100% positive as im no expert on exhaust, but general knowledge leads me to think that it will be just fine

Although it generates NO codes, Cherry Bomb classifies the Extreme Muffler as "For Off-Road Use". Which is the same classification used for Long Tube Headers which technically will not pass inspection even if you retain the cats and get NO codes due to relocation of the cats for fitment.
Possible CB has seen this muffler fail either a sniffer test or possibly the db level is high in some states, dunno.
Might be if there is doubt, you can opt for the Cherry Bomb Vortex which is designated for street use. Very similar sound to the Extreme and it even has a slightly higher cfm rating for flow...

Im in North Dallas (Richardson). I don't think I'm gonna fail inspection for noise in Dallas, but as Hammer pointed out there is a chance, but i highly doubt i will have any trouble. I was gonna go the vortex route, but i just got the cheaper Extreme haha
WOW,Never heard that one about it being to loud you will fail.....So,I called my brother who is a state licensed inspecter in texas. He said that it won't fail if it's to loud as long as it's a complete exhaust system cat, muffler, ect.He also said that it should pass the emissions test even if it's really loud if everything is in working order and you have the complete system like before(cat's not hogged out).He even said that if you changed it to true duals,As long as you have everything your suppose to have on each side it will pass. And also your check engine can't be on either. If someone doesn't pass you because of your exhaust being to loud you can file a complaint with the inspector place(People who certify the inspectors...Can't think of the name right now sorry).I hope this helps you out.
