Hi Sounds like you have a problem with your skim card. It is the dodge security system, the board is locking up by disconnecting the battery you are resetting it.

The alarm thing is kinda what I was thinking. But never really figured it out. A couple days after I posted this it just started working again. But about a week or so ago I blew a head gasket so ...

I have a similar problem. 1999 RAM 1500. It will turn over a couple of times and then die. Subsequent attempts to start will just crank and crank, but no more turn over.

I found that disconnecting the battery for a minute or so will make it start right up. Truck idles hard for the first 30 seconds or so and then I'm good to go for another several days or weeks. It's always random.

I don't have an aftermarket security system in my truck.

Any ideas?
