how hard is it to put towing mirrors on a 08 1500
It's really difficult. You should probably let the dealer do it as it takes about 5 hours to install them.
Actually, it's the easiest thing in the world to do! Pull the door panel and you'll see the mirror is held on by just three bolts. It's that easy!

The door panels are held on by a couple screws only. The door handle is a star bit and you'll need a 3" extension or screwdriver style.
Once you get the door handle off and the door panel screws out, just pull up. You may need to give it a nice firm start incase it's sticking, but there are not broken clips to worry about. The door panels use hooks that look just like the clothing hooks you hang on the top of your bedroom or bathoom door. The panel ifts straight up roughly 2" and then you pull it towards you. When you put the door panel back on, it's easier to remove the door lock **** insert out. it tends to catch behind it and it's hard to fit through the hole and get the panel lined up.
the mirrors themselves are 3 bolts and an electrical connector(if equipped)
The mirror has the studs on it so it's not like the bolts are going to be hard to thread on cause you can't find the holes. You just stick the mirror through the door and thread the nut on the stud ends. very easy. I'd say you'll spend more time with the door panels than the mirrors themselves.
It'll take a first timer longer than 15min. More like a 1/2hr -1hr.
