Default Very bizarre idle problem - Please Help

I posted a thread last week about my idle problem - well have you ever heard of this? When not under load (in park & neutral) it sounds rough and feels like it wants to stall, but when it is fully loaded (in Drive & Reverse) it is idling fine. I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi with 135K on the clock. One idiot light only and that is the O2 sensor (PO132 - bank 1 sensor 1). Any suggestions would help. Do you think it could be the IAC - idle air control valve? Going to the mechanic today to let him listen to it. Will keep you posted. Although, any ideas please post soon.
Need any other info let me know.

Thanks, Sporty

Possibly the IAC, but if I was a betting man, I'd be cleaning my throttle body if it ain't been done in more than 30k miles...

There is no IAC on the Hemi engine but I do concur with cleaning the TB out. Make sure you use brake parts cleaner and not carb or TB cleaner though.

Your RPMs normally run lower in P/N than in D thats why it sounds like that and why Hammer referred to the IAC.

You are right there is no IAC on the 5.7 but there is on on the 3.7/4.7/5.9/8.0

On top of that the OP doesnt have listed what engine he has and hasnt said he has a Hemi.

So my vote goes with Hammer

Thanks for info. Truck goes in to shop tomorrow, hopefully back to me by Friday and will keep you posted. Someone said it could be EGR but someone else said that the 03's don't have an EGR. What gives? I know there is no IAC. ANyway, this morn. acted up while in drive - only a minute or so into my drive - just left my home, it started to hesitate like it wanted to quite, but then kicked right back in. Will keep you posted on the outcome.
Thanks, Sporty

egr usually gives symptoms while driving. whens the last time a tune up was done? i would put some new plugs in and clean the TB and see whats going on.
Egr are pretty common on hemis. regardless of miles
