Default Traction Control problem

Hey, I just bought a used 2007 1500 Hemi 4x4 30,000 miles with a Fabtech lift. It has 37" tires on 20" wheels.

So here is the problem I am having...

When I turn into a corner and the truck gets a little body roll going. My traction control light comes on and it then proceeds to limit the motor down on power. It does this whether I have the traction control on or off. It has even caused the traction control, ESP and BAS lights to all stay on???

At first I thought the cause of the problem was the tires rubbing on the front bumper, but I have trimmed the bumper and I don't think the tires are rubbing anymore and it is still doing it.

Does anyone have any ideas????

Thanks in advance

its probly because your running 37" tires...... it could be throwing the sensors off

WOW, two reply's without a real answer. If 37's are throwing off the sensors and causing his problem then please explain how?
BTW, welcome to the forum, where did you buy the truck? Was it from a dealer or private?

Thanks for the welcome... I purchased it from a dealer. The lift and tires were already done to the truck so I am kinda stuck with it for now. I was kinda drawing the same conclusion as you about the responses so far. If the 37" tires are messing up the sensors I would think 35" tires would do the same?

I have done a pretty good amount of searching so far without an answer or someone with a similar problem. I am sure there are hunderds of people out there running this same package on their truck

Well if you just bought it then take it back and have them fix it. Not trying to be a dick but that's what I'd do.

Do you have any warranty from the dealer? Maybe a 30 day? I don't have traction control built into my truck, I use my right foot, but if I couldn't have the dealer I bought it from to find and fix the problem, then I'd foot the diagnostic fee at the dodge dealer have them scan the system.

But if a dealer sold you a modified truck where the modifications are causing computer problems you may have consumer rights depending on where you live.

Traction control IIRC usually engages when there is a significant difference between two tires. If it only does it on corners, I'm wondering if it's detecting a significant difference between the left and right side tires. With the bigger tires, yea all shafts will slow down considerably, But that might be it, using the inside tires as the "control" tire, which is turning very slow, and comparing to outer.

37" = 9.68 ft

20ft inner path = 2.06 rotation
25ft outer path = 2.582 rotation
= 79.78% split (125.34% over-spin)

With the stock ram tires (31.5"?) = 8.25 ft

20 ft inner path = 2.42 rotation
25ft outer path = 3.03 rotation
= 79.86 % split (125.2% over-spin)

... Or maybe not. Does it only happen when you get an aggressive body roll? I don't know how to calculate that to account for using a front tire as a master, but it shouldnt be much different. I know our 05 ram has a speed sensor on the left front, but not right front.

Can't fix what ain't broke. Seems logical the larger tires are confusing the system.
