Default Tire size with a level

Ok guys I know I am beating a dead horse but I can`t find an answer. I have a reg cab 2005 1500 4x4 with the hemi. My 2.5 inch level is on order. What is the largest tires that I can use WITH stock 17 inch wheels that will not rub anything at all? I want 35x12.50 but I know they are to wide for stock wheels and would prob rub. So whats the next smallest thing? Will 305x70x17`s fit?

Thanks in advance!

i would do a 33 11.50 thats your safest bet . no rub and plenty of flex . now you can do 35's but are limited in flex and might rub at full lock

305's are about as wide as you wanna go on the stocker's. I think you could go 315, but you're running the chance of busting the bead in any wheeling/airdown situation.

I believe ol Hoss is running 315's on his 17's with no problems (34's), and wheels the hell outta it (he's also running spacers, hence no rub). So, its all in what you wanna chance. Im loving my 295/70's, but they even slightly rub on full lock, just a little....

SO, basically, what RH said, 33/11.50's is the "safest" route, plenty of tire AND flex-room for some good wheelin....

Thanks for all the replys so far!! Where can I get these 1.5" billet hub centric spacers? I am thinking 305`s are the way I want to go but I am seeing that 295`s are a good bit cheaper and I would only gain around half an inch by going with 305`s. I would like to go with a 35" but I don`t want to buy new wheels right now. If I go with the 295 do I still need the spacers?

Like I said, you wouldn't need the spacers with the 295's, I rub slightly on FULL lock. I am personally gonna get the spacers just to kick the tires out slightly, give the illusion that they are wider than they are, haha.

Just for kicks, what tires are you looking at? Got some in mind, or are you figuring out the size first, then the brand?

Sounds good. I am looking more at the size right now but I like the Nitto`s really well. I want something that will do REALLY GOOD in the snow as well as be a good all around tire. I live on a mountain here in WV and if next winter is anything like last winter I need the best I can get. I also want it to look really good.

Pics dont do the terra graps justice as far as their aggressiveness goes. They're not a mud terrain tire, so they're not real knobby or anything, but they do look good. No experience in the snow as of yet, I didn't get'em till after our hellacious winter. But, they do perform well in other various offroad situations.... I have heard nothing but good things about these tires, Ol Hammer even said he's known a few folks to get 75k+ miles out of a set, so that was my selling point! I got mine from Discount Tire's ebay store for $770 shipped, but Ive seen them even cheaper then that....
