Default 2005 Dodge Ram, interested in buying. Any known problems?

Hey guys, I might be moving from the 2nd gen fourm to the 3rd gen. I found a 2005 Dodge Ram with a 5.7L Hemi. 46,000 original miles, and they will make me a good deal on it. Its SOOO much faster than my 5.2. Anyway are there any known problems, anything I should look for? I know the 2nd gens have ALOT of problems, just by owning one.

I need to

If it has Limited Slip rear differential you might want to check/research it. There has been some issues with the clutch pack retaining clips.

The other thing to check out is the HVAC system. The blend/mode/recirc doors have been known to break.

Now I don't know how huge/widespread these problems are, I just mention them because can be pricey problems to fix. I personally don't know anyone to have had either problem but if it doesn't take to much searching of the forums to find people who have.

I traded up from a '98 5.2L Ram to an '05 Hemi and couldn't be happier. I'm over 80,000 miles and no major issues.

I have an 05 Hemi 4x4 with 114k miles and recently replaced the EGR and Cam Position Sensor. Otherwise, just regular maintenance and no problems at all. Running strong and smooth.

Had to replace the EGR Valve in my 06 last year at about 60000 miles. Other than that I have had no problems. I hear of some issues with the steering rack needing to be replaced but haven't had any personal experience with it. I think you will be really happy with the upgrade from that boat anchor 5.2 to the HEMI.

Yes, Already I screech the tires everywhere lol. Its SO much faster. I think im in love. Its the same color as yours Blake. Its got 46K miles.

Its the LONE STAR Edition. IDK what that adds to it, maybe just a sticker. who knows. Its got a 3.92 rear axle! That helps ALOT!
