You might want to disconnect the core until you have time to get it replaced. From what I've read here from previous guys that have done it, plan for a weekend getting it done. You'll have to pull the whole dash and hvac box out to make the repairs.

Not one of Dodges' better ideas.

It'll remind you to change you antifreeze alot more often to keep the aluminum cores in good condition.

After I read some of the other guys posts about this, I drined and flushed mine early last summer----no problems yet.

Good Luck!

Okay so in my anger my brother and I tore into it. Well I got everything out except the metal frame and the heater box. Took about 3 hours.

There are bolts attaching the defrost vents to the top dash piece. My one piece that snaps in with the defrost vents in it was already had 5 cracks. So I figured it would break. Well it shattered. Then getting the defrost bolts out the big top piece snapped in half and ruined it. So I took my anger out after ruining my 500 dollar in dash parts and threw them in the yard, which caused them to break even more, while me cussing a storm and the neighbors speechless me throwing pieces everywhere. The plastic used is beyond cheap in these things. Hope to god you never have to pull the dash. It will break if its not fairly new.

my HC has gone bad too. ive been through 2 radiators and im on my 3rd. went aftermarket one on ebay. around $110 + $80 install. a buddy did it, and i was soo happy i didnt have to pay the stealer or a mechanic an arm and leg, the RAD from ebay needed some grinding before itd fit, and theyre alot thinner than the stock RAD.

i dread pulling the dash. but sounds like it can be done from sun up to sun down.

If your dash has had any exposure to the sun it will break. Like said mine shattered. I found only two junkyard with the parts I need neither will ship. So now I'm stuck putting grey panels in a blue interior. Whoever order blue interior needs punched in the face.

You might consider a color match from krylon----that new stuff that bonds to plastic

may not be perfect, but better than the total mismatch

that sucks.

was it the prying that broke the pieces, or just all together prying on brittle plastic?
