ok for all of you who think I'm a toyota/nissan lover, I'd like you to know that I ponied up and bought a Dakota today. The bed is tiny and I'll have to get used to that, but for the most part I just use it for hauling cans to the dump and recycling cardboard, so it'll work out ok. I like the size of the Tundra a lot, and the Dak is just a hair smaller. I got my 360, complete with mediocre fuel economy, but it's better than my old truck.

Now, does anybody want to buy my Ram? Selling it will save me $300 a year in insurance and pay off a credit card with cash to spare, so I'd like to move it ASAP.

Thanks! I really like it so far - mileage isn't near what I had hoped for, but pretty close to what I expected (11mpg average according to the computer).

Bed mat? No thanks, it's got a spray in liner already and I had a thick rubber one in my Ram and it made it hard to drag stuff out of the back (and it got tossed on accident into a transfer station pit because the boards stuck to it).

It's a 5.9L with the nv233 and 3.92 gears, 4-speed auto so I'm guessing it's the 46re. Because of the tranny burnout history of the 46 and the intake plenum leaking problems of the 5.9 I got an extended warranty for it, 5 years 100k miles, tax tags and out the door it was 20k and they gave me $11.5k for the Jetta, about 1500 more than I was expecting plus the 8.5% sales tax credit. I'm pretty happy with the deal, the warranty they said I was getting a 4/48k for about 800 under the normal price (weekend sale i think) but then the finance lady bumped it up to 5/100 for free, bumper to bumper with a $50 deductible.

I think it's pretty much bone stock - there is a butterfly and a flower sticker on the C pillar in the back that makes me think some soccer mom owned it before.

I've heard that Dodge discontinued the regular Magnum cylinder heads for these things and that the RT heads are now the substitute part number. I wonder if these heads were to crack if Dodge would put the RT heads in under warranty. [sm=burnout.gif]

And the coolest thing is that the truck was assembled in Dodge City, which is where my Ram was made too. The only odd thing is that it's an SLT and it's got chromed plastic wheel covers, and I thought the SLT's all came with alloy wheels. Otherwise it seems to be fairly loaded except leather. I'm not a fan of chrome but I'm not in a hurry to replace them since they actually look decent for wheel covers.

But I gotta get scooting now and put a tank or two of gas through it this weekend and see what kind of mileage it gets cruising on the freeway - I think later this summer we might road trip down to San Diego and it's be nice to take the dakota because it's so comfy.

well, well, am proud of you, man.... it sounds sweet, and with the 5.9 it should haul *** well.... the soccer mom thing is funny, she (if thats the case) had some nuts under her for power....
Are you gonna horse it up any??? it probably will be easy to do....
I drove one when I was looking for mine but they didnt wanna deal, so I got mine....no regrets......

Your warrenty is great, and ya deff. got a deal there, plus the deal on the truck, ya cant beat that at all.........
Well, GOOD LUCK with it, and let us know how it goes.......

Proud of you....LOL..........GUIDO

Thanks man.

I just noticed this weekend that the former owner's small creature spilled some maple syrup on the back seat... time to get the shop vac out and shampoo the seat. [:@]

I'm probably going to leave it fairly stock for a while, new muffler because the factory one is too quiet, but that's about it.

This is my standard response to Titan owners - if they were so damn great, Nissan would sell more than 7,000 a month. Hell, Chevy sells more Colorados per month/year then Nissan sells Titans. I won't knock how quick they are, but something is just wrong with a Rising Sun symbol on the hood of a truck - and I bet WWII vets would agree with that.
