Default Power wire and Ambient Air Temp Question

Hey guys,

Im posting this in the Ram section because you guys probably have more experience with the power wire. I just installed a 4.7k ohm resistor on the green wire coming from my IAT. The temp is reading cooler and it only cost me 99 cents.

Im questioning now whether or not I should install a resistor on my ambient air temperature sensor? Will the PCM recognize somethings wrong when the intake temp is lower than the ambient air temp, or is it something I shouldnt worry about. Im just seeing if the ambient air temp is something the engine uses to balance the fuel mixture.

Thanks for your help!

Leave the amb temp sensor alone. It has nothing to do with the IAT. It only gives a temp readout on the OHD for you to see how hot it is outside.

Thanks,
I dont have the overhead in my truck, so I wasnt sure if that sensor served another purpose.

if you mess with you ambient temp sensor you will start having a/c issues and so on.
just leave it alone.
