Default Having the Ram Detailed

I'm going to have my truck detailed on the 30th and the guy has some Mopar paint sealant that's guaranteed to bead for 5 years. First he's going to wash and buff out the paint and then apply the sealant. Anybody have this stuff on their truck and how good is it?

No direct experience, but I'd be skeptical about the durability. Five years? Does Wisconsin put salt on the roads? Is the truck garaged? What's he charging for this? What's the maintenance routine?

Salt in WI???? OH YAH...Thats why I want a good wax or paint sealant. I'm in the UP of MI as well where they use sand/salt. I saw the bottle and it has the Mopar emblem on it. It's $30 bucks more for the sealant which I thought was a good deal. A guy over on DT says "The 5 year claim is a little bit of a stretch, BUT it does appear to be very good stuff. It is made by Master Shield." So if it doesn't bead after the first year or 2 I hopefully will get it sealed again for free.

Just Googled Master Shield and came up with this. http://www.mastershieldprotection.com/aboutppf/ I didn't see anything on their site other than a 3m type film application. Nothing regarding a liquid/wax type application?

I don't want some transparent plastic film on my truck

I think this link is closer to what your talking about, but it doesn't have too much information on there

http://mastershieldonline.com/Home/t...S/Default.aspx

based on several forum threads it looks like it is a pretty good product, but doesn't last 5 years.

5 yrs is nothing but a marketing gimmick. The BEST sealant in the industry will only last a year.
Sealant is a Synthetic Polymer and is why it lasts longer, but the envirnoment will still strip it off waaay before the 5yr mark and likely way before the 2yr mark.

You would have to wax every other month for the sealant to last 5yrs or even 1/2 that time.

What's the price of this service you are getting?

so, whats that? $180??

I'm just wondering because you can claybar your truck and then apply sealant yourself for a total of about $40 and then you still have more product to do your ride again a few more times.
