Default Engine light, No power.

O.K. I'll keep this short and maybe someone can help me before I go into the dealership blind.

I've got a 06 1500 hemi ram. 60,000 miles.

Check engine light came on while driving through town. After light came on, truck will not shift into Overdrive. Also, no power taking off from stop. engine will rev to about 2000 rpm's before slowly starting to move.

Sat with truck in park and engine would only rev to 4000 rpm.

Also have full power in reverse, and 1st or 2nd gear, but if I shift into drive I have no power from stop.

Unhooked battery and light came back on right away.

Any ideas would be great.

i don't know what the problem is but all the hemi trucks are limited at 4000 rpm in park and neutral so that is normal

I agree with the others. You need to pull and post the codes. You could have a transmission going into limp in. But without any other information, i would be only guessing.

Don't beat on it much. It's stock and my daily driver. I didn't know if they had a limp mode after throwing a code. I'll try to get it somewhere to get scanned tomorrow and let you know. Thanks for the help.

Agreed on as said earlier, if you have a CEL on then you need to pull the codes and post them here. If you do not have a tuner or scanner then limp it to a auto parts store and let them connect their OBD scanner to it and give you the codes.

It was in limp mode due to problem with transmission computer. Also throw in ball joints, brakes, and tires before winter, sweet. Thanks again.
