Question '05 Cup Holder

Just wondering if anyone has had the cup holder that sits low on the dash and pops out, 'break'? Some part inside the spring mechanism broke off - can I replace that part, or am I better to just buy a whole new cup holder assembly? Thanks!

Considering how everything is plastic you are going to have to buy the whole unit. Unless you've got great plastic-refabbing skills fixing just the piece that broke wouldn't be worth the work, although knowing what exactly broke would better help answer your question.

Good example is my mom's '08 Sebring Convertible, the trunk separator that holds the top when its down had had a little plastic clip that slides into a crevice in the trunk so it doesn't wiggle around, well it snapped off one day while it was being pushed into the crevice and she had to buy the entire trunk separator...all $480 of it.

For just the cup holder, i would go to a local junkyard and pull one out of a cab thats in decent shape if you can. Probably cost ya about 30 bucks and an hours worth of work.

mine is acting up a bit now - it's getting picky with regards to latching.
When it fails, I'm going to fab up some cupboard magnets to hold it shut.

I just took mine apart and all there is is a single stiff wire that holds tension on the black slider piece that actually latches. On the end of that black slider piece there is a part that comes forward and T's off to each side. You can pull it forward, up and over the end and pull the whole slider piece off.

Sure enough - I have to buy the whole cupholder assembly for $263! Not happening. Im going to check and see if I can get it at a local wreckers. It is the Black plastic picece that T's off to either side of the unit, and supports the metal wire/spring that has broken off into 3 pieces....so maybe some super glue? haha, or plastic welding? Thanks guys!
