Default Junkyard auto dimming mirror

So, I found a 2002 Dodge Ram, with an auto dimming rear view. Couple of questions:

1. Will it fit my 2006 Dodge Ram
2. How hard will it be to install? Just plug in or will I need to cut wires? I do have the overhead console.

Thanks!

Ryan

You have the harness that goes with the mirror right? How many wires are in it?

weed means did you grab the harness out of the 02 so that you can wire it into your truck. You'll need that. just the connector and 6-8 inches of the wire.

itll plug into your mirror, but you will have to splice it in the overhead counsel. Its probably a 3 wire set up. 1 power, 1 ground, and 1 neutral/reverse saftey. (could be wrong)

depending on how many wires you have we can help you splice it in.

^^^ Yeah, I was wanting to know if he got the harness that went with the mirror.

And yes 2001Ram, you will need to splice it in as huseman808 said.

If you dont have the harness, get it and then tell me how many wires it has so i can try to find some wiring schematics on it and tell you where they go.

Weed,

I think there is only 2 wires, the dimming feature is totally self contained in the mirror (small sensor on the front)

From the FSM

REAR VIEW MIRROR
REMOVAL
1. If equipped, disconnect the wire harness connector
(1) from the rear view mirror (3).
2. Loosen the set screw (2) that secures the rear view
mirror to the mounting bracket (4).
3. Slide the base of the rear view mirror upward and
remove the mirror from the mounting bracket.
4. If required, remove the mirror mounting bracket
from the windshield (5).

DR/DH
INTERIOR 23 - 173

INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION
1. If required, install the mounting bracket (4) to the
windshield (5) (Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/
REAR VIEW MIRROR - REAR VIEW MIRROR
MOUNTING BRACKET - INSTALLATION).
2. Position the base of the rear view mirror (3) onto
the mounting bracket and slide the mirror downward
until it is fully engaged on the mounting
bracket.
3. Tighten the set screw (2) that secures the rear view
mirror to the mounting bracket to 1 N·m (15 in.
lbs.).
4. If equipped, connect the wire harness connector (1)

to the rear view mirror.

I'll take a look at mine and see

Weed,

I stand corrected----it is 3 wire, looks like blk, grn or gry, and wht/r (?) I didn't have my glasses it powers up with the ignition.

Ok,

The OP has to have the wire harness too,

Bk = Ground
Wt/Lg = Backup Lamp Feed
Pk/Dg = 12v fused from ign/start

Couldn't get the wiring maps to copy and paste

Yea, i put one in my old Dakota. I tied the reverse lead in with the ground, because I dont really need it to turn off when backing up.
