Default E-fan not doing the job.

How many of you have seen that under stress situations, the Taurus E-fan just doesn't do the job?
I have this set up, and once in heavy traffic I REALLY started to sweat as my temp gauge got dangerously close to the red. Temp was about 100, and sitting in grid lock traffic, no where to go.

This weekend, we went fishing. When we hit the bottom of the mountains, it is about a 10 minute / 1000 feet climb to the peak. Once again, my truck got dangerously close to over heating.

I think I will be installing a manual switch for the high speed on the fan for those moments with higher demand.

Anyone else run into this and what did you do?

Been hitting upper 90s everyday here in Florida, mine ain't been near the halfway mark yet. But I got the Flex-a-Lite.
Wish I could say that for the Jeep, it's got that weird a$$ fan with lines coming from the power steering pump to run and with my hitch blocking off about 20% of the radiator down low, it's crept up around 220* a few times. Nothing drastic, but high enough to get my attention...

Same here in SC, Heat advisories every day. Mine hasn't seen the half way mark since I installed the BM Extreme 180. Well worth the money imo. Not knocking the Taurus fan cuz alot of guys have made it work but the BM fan just seemed easier and I couldn't see trusting my truck to a junkyard fan. Again, not knocking the Taurus fans but just wasn't for me.

I know there is about an 800 cfm difference between the Taurus on low and the Flex-a-Lite, might be that's the difference.
Also, what thermostat are you guys running? I've got a 180* in mine and also have the fan set to come on just below that at about 175'ish.

If you are running the stock thermostat, might be that little head start in opening the flood gates when the engine is 15-20* cooler might just be the ticket. Thermostats are cheap enough...

Don't get me wrong, the fan is running. Just isn't doing the job well enough.

Also, did you guys keep your stock shroud? That shroud is there to direct the air flow into the radiator...

For me, yes. Kept the shroud. Followed instructions found on the forum here on how to install.

Do you have a 180* t-stat? I have one installed and it works great with my taurus e-fan (low side) for these NC days. I have it set to turn on at 198* and turn off at 188*. Never had a problem and it's reached 100 here.

Since you've got the 5.9, I think the manual switch is a good idea, hell on mine I just wired it up on high to be safe and I've got a 3.7.
